This 1956 recording was organized quickly in New York, not on the heels of a stage performance and not even with a noted orchestra. 0ur opinion: :Swedish opera star Jussi Björling (1911-196O) was essentially a lyric tenor with the added ability to sing dramatic roles, which enabled him to excel in almost the whole of the ltalian and French operatic repertoire. Björling recorded exclusively for EMl from the beginning of his career for more than a decade, and this 5-CD set includes the best of his solo recordings, as well as highlights from three complete operas -- La Bohème, Pagliacci, and Madama Butterfly!
