Back on Top»rank: 429762by: Van Morrison
0ur opinion: :Back on Top kicks off on an unpromising note with a generic blues shuffle, 'Goin' Down Geneva,' that belies the album's cocky title. Van Morrison quickly redeems himself, however, with a set otherwise closer in its balance of rave-up and reverie to his beloved early-'7Os classics than much of his '9Os output. 0ur opinion: :Japanese only remastered SHM-CD (Super High Material CD - playable on all CD players) pressing packaged in a paper sleeve and includes two bonus tracks. Universal. 2OO8. :Longtime Van Morrison fans may prefer the Belfast bard's tougher, emphatically R&B-driven work, yet it's his lusher, mid-'8Os output that helped him consolidate the scrappy gains made in the prior decades. The once-heightened polarity between the earthy and the ethereal seemed muted on albums that traded in a softer-focus, romantic mysticism ...
